Lappeenranta, Finland. At its 16th Conference on Power Electronics and Applications held on August 27, 2014, the European Power Electronics and Drives Association (EPE) presented our colleague Heiko Bach-Preckwinkel with its Outstanding Young EPE Member Award. Heiko Bach-Preckwinkel has been working in hardware development at LTI ReEnergy forseven years. He won the award in recognition of hisachievement as lead author of the article "A Novel Low Cost Solar Central Inverters Topology With 99.2 % Efficiency". The article sets out the research and development results in relation to a special inverter topology which intelligently utilises existing degrees of freedom based on the medium voltage transformer. The results were incorporated directly into the development of the PVOne power electronics unit. The biannual EPE event is the leading scientific conference in Europe on the subjects of power electronics and electric drive engineering. The award is regarded as one of the highest international accolades in the industry. We congratulate Heiko Bach-Preckwinkel most sincerely on this prestigious award in recognition of his research work, and wish him continued success in future.
